Robert Webster Core

Robert Webster Core, age 76, of Columbus, Ohio and formerly of Lima and Bellefontaine, Ohio passed away at 8:38 A.M. Friday, October 27, 2017, at the Upper Valley Medical Center in Troy, Ohio. He was born in Bellefontaine March 14, 1941, to the late Edward K. and Dorothy (Webster) Core. Along with his parents, a brother, Edward K. Core Jr. preceded him in death.

He is survived by his son, David M. (Amanda) Core; a daughter, Rachel S. Core; grandsons, Caleb B. and Sebastian J. Core; his former wife, Frances Early Core; sisters, Ellen Core Perry and Nancy Core Wisse; a sister-in-law, Joyce A. Core; his brother-in-law, Harold (Sue Ann) Early; nieces, Barb Neff, Liz Core, Laura (Vinh) Nguyen, and Lisa Perry; nephews, Greg (Karen) Wisse, Geoff (Lori) Wisse, and Tony (Heather) Core.

Robert was a 1959 graduate of Bellefontaine High School and a United States Army Veteran. He had a bachelor’s and a master’s degree from The Ohio State University and additional course work from the University of Dayton. Robert sang tenor in the OSU Glee club and alumni club. He also was part of the church choirs at the Crestview and Central Presbyterian Churches, and the West Elm United Church of Christ. Robert enjoyed karaoke and was a singing contest winner on several cruise ships. Robert had over three thousand volunteer hours at the Grant Medical Center in Columbus. He never saw a stranger, and made no enemies. Robert conversed in many languages such as Italian, French, Swahili, as well as English. He was a showman of Hereford cattle and traveled to many county fairs and had earned grand champion at the State Fair.

Pastor Carol Bogaards will officiate the funeral service at 12 noon Monday, October 30, 2017 at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Bellefontaine. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Bellefontaine Cemetery.
