Robert Doty
Robert E. Doty, 86, of Bellefontaine, passed away on Monday, March 23, 2015 at his home.
He was born on July 17, 1928 in Cable, Ohio, a son of the late Harold and Edith (Anderson) Doty. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Charles Doty and sisters, Margaret DeCaminada and Mary Vernon.
On November 7, 1952 he married the former Dorothy J. Brown and she preceded him in death on January 21, 2007.
He was employed at Cedar Bay Construction for many years and retired at age 62, then went back to work for 18 years for Acrux Security. He also helped farm Woodruff’s Produce in West Liberty for many years.
Survivors include his daughters, Cathy Doty-Herford of Bellefontaine and Janice (Patrick) Doty Kelly of Sidney; son, Mike (Becky) Doty of Bellefontaine; grandchildren, Amy Doty, Chad Doty, Kylie Howard, Brianne Smith, Jessica Doty, Jeremy Herford, Alana Vrooman, Christine Beck and Savannah Godwin; 26 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.
He and his siblings were raised in Urbana Children’s Home after his mother’s death. He worked hard for his wife and three children. He mowed lawns for many folks in Bellefontaine just to have something to do and he never knew a stranger.
A funeral service will be held at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home, 321 North Main Street, Bellefontaine on Friday, April 3, 2015 at 1:30 p.m. where friends may call two hours prior to the service. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, West Liberty.
