Robert S. Stemble, 88 of Lewistown, passed away on Monday, February 16, 2015 at his home, surrounded by his family.
He was born on March 28, 1926 in Champaign County, Ohio, a son of the late Dewey F. and Glenna Mae (Hupp) Stemble. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Akey.
On July 5, 1949 in Covington, Kentucky he married the former Betty Littlejohn and she survives along with a daughter, Debra (Ed) Pulfer of Belle Center; sons, John (Pamela) Stemble of Lewistown, Douglas A. (Patricia) Stemble of Rushsylvania; grandchildren, Chad Pulfer, Brad Pulfer, Melissa Pulfer, Kelly Stemble and Kale Stemble; two great-grandchildren, Rylee and Reagan Pulfer, a niece, Kay Akey-Creech of Montana, and a special buddy, Bryan Fullerton.
Bob was a life-long farmer and past owner and operator of Belle Center Food & Storage and also Stemble’s Meats from 1962 to 1991.
A Navy veteran of WWII he was also a member of the Lewistown-Trinity United Methodist Church. A 1944 graduate of West Liberty High School, he loved the Cincinnati Reds and enjoyed OSU basketball and “wintering” in St. Petersburg, Florida. He was a member of the Willard Stout Post of the American Legion #266 in Belle Center.
John “Pete” Brown will conduct a funeral service on Friday, February 20, 2015 at 11 a.m. at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home, 321 North Main Street, Bellefontaine, where friends may call on Thursday, February 19, 2015 from 2 – 4 & 6 – 8 p.m. Burial will be in Oakdale Cemetery, Urbana with military honors provided by the Logan County Honor Guard.
