Bob is survived by his six children: Terry (Cindy) Tremains, Tracy (Michael) Brady, Chris Tremains, Mark (Kim) Tremains, Michelle (Joe) Coy, and Michael (Stacy) Tremains; grandchildren: Stephen (Becky) DeVore, Trenton (Isabel) DeVore, Matthew Tremains, Elizabeth (Luke) Tremains, Henry and Tommy Tremains, Isaiah Brady, Lauren and Kate Coy, Amanda and Jessica Tremains; step-grandchild Cassandra (Sean) Kanary; his great-grandchildren: Claire, Teddy, Graham, and step-grandchildren: Roland and McKay.  Bob is also survived by his sister Patricia (David) Lepard and family; sisters-in-law: Patricia Tremains, Henrietta (Hankie) Slattery, Nathalie Linder, and Joann Linder; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A 1954 graduate of Findlay High School, Bob played football, ran track, and was voted “Prettiest Eyes.”  As a teen, he was proud of his Indian Scout motorcycle and was affectionately called “Cubby” by a local motorcycle club known as the Wolf Pack.  Following graduation, Bob joined the U.S. Army and was stationed at Ft. Jackson, South Carolina, as a Jump Instructor with the 101st Airborne Division.   He then served two years in Korea during the Korean Conflict. Bob liked to recall the time he was honored to be the assigned driver of the late Rev. Billy Graham who was visiting our troops in Korea.

Bob was an avid reader and enjoyed all genres.  He also enjoyed music, from polka to country to opera.  His favorite operas were Phantom of the Opera and Les Miserables.  In his spare time, Bob liked to go hunting and took many trips to Michigan, and went out west hunting antelope with his friend, Larry Schwartz.  He was a fan of the The Ohio State Buckeyes and Cincinnati Reds.

As a young man, Bob worked at Cooper Tire, International Harvester, Montgomery Ward, and State Chemical.  He then became an insurance agent and worked for Prudential Life Insurance Company and was recognized as Salesman of the Year and Sales Manager of the Year.  After retiring from Prudential, Bob took a year of college courses at OSU-Lima and worked as a volunteer math teacher for GED Prep classes at Ohio Hi-Point Career Center.  He was also known as “Walmart Bob” when working part-time as a door-greeter where he enjoyed entertaining children shopping with their parents.

Bob moved into the Homestead at Logan Acres in July of 2019. Among many of the residents and caring staff he was known as “The Professor” due to his love of literature, sharp mind, and quick wit.  Bob openly enjoyed engaging others with his love of trivia, his vast knowledge of vocabulary, and his great sense of humor.  Bob also shared his keen observations and used his warm personality with new employees, making them feel at ease.  Never too old to enjoy Halloween, Bob celebrated Trick-or-Treat sitting outside his apartment, dressed in a black graduation gown complete with a hooded scream mask, and talking to every child that passed by.  Bob truly enjoyed all the kids and the kids got a kick out of Bob!

Bob’s family would like to extend their gratitude and thanks to the staffs of Logan Acres and the Homestead for the wonderful and caring attention provided to their father.

A private funeral mass will be held at St. Patrick Catholic Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Society, c/o St. Patrick Catholic Church, 316 East Patterson Ave. Bellefontaine, OH  43311.
