Robert T. Troyer, 92, of Belle Center, passed away Wednesday morning, August 10, 2016, at his home.
He was born in Logan County on May 11, 1924 to the late Foreast A. and Helen (Elder) Troyer. He was preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor (Vance) Troyer; his sister, Doris (Troyer) Hurley; and son-in-law, Thomas E. Moore.
Bob was a graduate of Huntsville High School. Following graduation he joined the U.S. Army and served in the 1st Calvary Division during WWII in Japan.
On September 6, 1944 he married Eleanor and they had three children.
Bob worked for Rockwell International, drove a milk truck, farmed for over 40 years in Logan & Hardin Counties.
Bob & Eleanor built a winter lake home in Florida in 1976. He loved to water-ski and taught all of his grandchildren to water-ski and he last skied on his 80th birthday. They also loved to travel and their many travels included Alaska, California, Hawaii, Mexico, Canada and Europe. Bob enjoyed woodworking, chocolate almond ice cream, The Ohio State Buckeyes, collecting John Deere memorabilia and the outdoors.
Bob is survived by his children, Bonnie Jo Moore of Apopka, Florida, William F. (LuAnn) Troyer of Huntsville and Robert D. (Shelley) Troyer of Belle Center; seven grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, seven step-great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.
For the past three years, Bob was blessed to be cared for by Tina and Jack Eagy.
A Memorial Service will be held on at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 13, 2016 at the Belle Center United Methodist Church, 202 East Main Street, Belle Center, Ohio. Officiating will be Pastor Kevin Smith.
Arrangements for the family are being handled by the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home in Belle Center.
