Robert “Jake” Eugene Zimpfer, age 82, of Jackson Center, Ohio, went to be with Our Lord in Heaven peacefully at 3:10 P.M. Saturday, September 6, 2014 at Fair Haven in Sidney, Ohio.
Jake was born November 12, 1931, to the late Paul and Helen Zimpfer.
Jake was proceeded in death by his wife Grace who passed away April 10, 2013 and his son, David E. Zimpfer in 2001. He had one sister, Betty Gross, who also proceeded him in death.
Jake married his sweetheart Grace Irene Regula April 25, 1953. They met in the church choir loft as young adults at the Grace Lutheran Church in Jackson Center where they later married.
Jake is survived by his daughters, Peggy (John) Hall of Bellefontaine, Ohio and Sandy (Paul) Roach of Sidney. As children growing up we saw such a faithful and very sweet love. He is also survived by his daughter in-law, Jody Zimpfer Keith of Jackson Center.
Brad and Heather Hall, Becky and Andrea Roach, and Blake and Courtney Zimpfer were extremely blessed to have Grandpa Jake as a part of their lives. Jake also had two great-grandchildren, Aaron and Daniel Hall.
As a young man, Jake worked in construction and later worked for his brother-in-law and later for his son at G & R Farm service. Many hours were spent visiting the guys at the plant after Jake retired. He was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church and faithfully went every Sunday that he could. Jake and Grace also were Luther League advisors for many years. Jake was active in the community and attended many high school sporting events and loved the Jackson Center Tigers.
Grandpa Jake loved special visits with his grandkids. He also had a love for John Deere farm equipment, the Cincinnati Reds, the casino, and the coffee shop.
Calling hours will be held Wednesday, September 10, 2014 at the Grace Lutheran Church from 3 to 7 P.M. Pastor Kent Hollis will officiate a celebration of life service Thursday, September 11 2014, at 10:30 A.M. at the Grace Lutheran Church where friends may call one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the Glen Cemetery in Port Jefferson, Ohio.
The staff of the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home in Jackson Center assisted the family with the arrangements.
