Rochella ‘Roxy’ Darlene Spencer, 75, of Rushsylvania passed away Friday, October 9, 2015 at her residence.
She was born in Lima, Ohio on November 21, 1939 the daughter of the late Hubert ‘Jim’ and Grace Arlene (Craig) Williams.
On June 29, 1957 in Allen County, Ohio, she married Dwight Spencer and he preceded her in death on June 28, 2015. In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by a sister, Coranita Longbrake, a brother, Randall J. Williams and a brother-in-law, Robert Straker.
She is survived by children, Lynzetta (Mark) Leatherman of Bellefontaine, Jeff (Debbie) Spencer of Rushsylvania and Kimberly “Kim” (James) Bycynski of West Mansfield; grandchildren, Danielle, Landon, Curt, Alexa, Sydney, Lauren, Spencer; great-grandchildren, Lydia, Lane, Lance, Lacey, Preston, Whitney, Abigail, Annemarie, Sophia, Claire; one sister, Beverley Straker of Rushsylvania, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins and many close friends.
Roxy attended Calvary Baptist Church in Bellefontaine. She worked as a LPN in Mary Rutan Hospital for 32 years, primarily working in the OB. She enjoyed going shopping and loved the time spent with her children and grandchildren. She was a fan of any sport or activity that her grandchildren participated in. She also enjoyed traveling with her husband and family to various locations throughout the years.
Roxy was the “wind beneath her husband’s wings” and that bond is what allowed them to give so much back to the community in which they lived and served.
Pastor Jeffory Willetts will officiate a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home, 321 N. Main St., Bellefontaine. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 13, 2015 from 1 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Harper Cemetery in rural Bellefontaine.
