Roger Beech

Roger Lee Beech, age 78, of Huntsville, Ohio, passed away Tuesday evening, May 13, 2014 at Mary Rutan Hospital in Bellefontaine, Ohio.

He was born in St. Johns, Ohio January 20, 1936, to the late Everett Earl and Ruth Velma (Johns) Beech. He was also preceded in death by sister-in-laws Donna Hasty, Cheryl Beech, and Vickie Creviston, and brother-in-laws Gail (Betty) Alloway and Bob Alloway.

Roger married the former Ruth Ann Alloway August 31, 1956, at the Huntsville United Methodist Church and she survives in Huntsville. He is also survived by a daughter, Cindy (Jeff) Vesco of Pickerington, Ohio and a son, Jim (Denise) Beech of West Mansfield, Ohio; five grandchildren, Nicole, Zack and Morgan Vesco, Katrise (Alex Rhoades) and Kodrey Beech; two great-grandchildren, Jacob and Kyleigh; a sister, Wilma Beech of Sidney, Ohio; a brother, Bob Beech of Belle Center, Ohio; sister-in-laws, Judy Alloway of Kenton, Ohio and Linda Hill of Bellefontaine; many nieces and nephews as well as lots of close friends and other relatives.

Roger was a veteran of the United States Army, having served his country from 1959 – 1963. He worked as an auto mechanic and was employed at Westinghouse in Bellefontaine and later worked at Acrux as a security guard. He was a member of the Huntsville United Methodist Church and the American Legion in Huntsville.

Roger enjoyed his grandkids activities and sporting events and was a NASCAR fan. In his younger years, he enjoyed wood-working and coached youth baseball in Huntsville. Roger also treasured get-togethers with family and friends as well as playing cards and going out to eat.

Calling hours will be held at the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine Friday, May 16, 2014 from 5 to 8 P.M. Pastor Bryan Meadows will officiate the funeral service Saturday, May 17, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at the Huntsville United Methodist Church.
