Roger Pope

Roger L. Pope, 86, of Springhills passed away Tuesday morning, March 14, 2017 at Springfield Regional Medical Center.

Roger was born in DeGraff, Ohio on July 21, 1930 to the late Harrison L. and Myrtle (Gates) Pope. He married Joan Pope on October 29, 1949 in Greenup County, Kentucky and she preceded him in death on March 22, 1996. Roger was also preceded in death by sisters Avril Hughes, Bea Bender and Connie Pope; brothers Bud Pope and David Pope and a granddaughter Stacie Faulder.

A graduate of Rosewood High School, Roger worked on the Calland Farm. He then went to work in the maintenance department for Copeland in Sidney where he retired after 42 years of work. Roger enjoyed camping and dirt track racing, especially Shadybowl and Eldora Speedway.

Roger is survived by his children: Debby (Lee) Niswonger of Springhills, Missy Pope of Urbana and Bradley (Annette) Pope of Springfield; grandchildren: Jeremy (Tasha Corwin) Niswonger and Brittani Shields; great-grandchildren: Michaela Cook, Dalton Faulder, Alexis and Donovan Corwin; brother Gene (Mary) Pope of DeGraff and numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends may call on Friday, March 17, 2017 from 5-8pm at the Daring & Sanford Funeral Home, 210 W. Hayes St. DeGraff, OH. Pastor Dave Godwin will officiate the funeral on Saturday, March 18 at 10am at the funeral home. Burial will be in Springhills Cemetery.
