Ronald "Lloyd" Corwin

February 6, 1943 — January 21, 2025

Largo, Florida

Ronald "Lloyd" Corwin, 81, of Largo, FL, passed away on January 20, 2025, with family by his side at Riverside Hospital, Columbus, OH.

The Ohio native was born in Bellefontaine, Ohio on February 6, 1943, to Donald E. and Hannah Skidmore Corwin who preceded him in death as did his little sister, Karen Ann Corwin, and his wife, Janean Holway.

Lloyd was the oldest of five children and survived by his siblings: Donald L (Susan) Corwin, C. David (Sharon) Corwin, and Debra (Andrew) Johnson. His nieces and nephews include Jacob (Kristen) Johnson, Kate (Kevin) Wingfield, Betsy Corwin Gambone, Lloyd (Kelsey) Corwin and Jeffrey (Dani) Corwin. Great nieces and nephews include Lauren and Charles Wingfield, Lydia, Joel and Eva Johnson, and Grant and Reid Gambone.

Lloyd attended Rushsylvania High School and was the valedictorian of the class of 1961. Although active in sports, music, and student government, Lloyd's fondest memory was that of participating in the RHS Debate Team which ranked second at the state level.

Lloyd left Rushsylvania to attend Harvard College for his undergraduate degree. He then received his doctorate degree from Brandeis University. Lloyd became a speech writer for Jimmy Carter's first campaign. President Carter appointed him as an advisor and administrative associate for the Public Health and Safety Task Force on the Three Mile Island accident project. Lloyd's assessment of the impacts of that accident and recommendations to minimizing the chance of future accidents earned Lloyd a special achievement award from the President's Commission. This was awarded for sustained superior performance in the public interest. Lloyd then took his career to The World Bank in Washington D.C. This job took Lloyd around the world including countries like Norway, Finland, China, and Japan. He worked with finance ministers to formulate plans and projects for their countries to become more self-sufficient. Lloyd held various administrative roles at the World Bank until he retired.

Lloyd was a brilliant, but humble man. Although his accomplishments were great in the eyes of many, his greatest blessings were working and learning beside his Grandpa Pete and his father. From them, he learned to listen to those who needed to be heard and to help those who needed a helping hand. His joys were coming home to walk and fish along the Rush Creek and visit the land and woods that he loved. He cherished the time he spent at Martha's Vineyard as well as the memories with his wife Janean on Sanibel Island.

Lloyd spent the last 20 years of his life living in Largo, FL. Before moving back home to Ohio he found a deep sense of fulfillment by giving all his earthly possessions to churches and those in need. In lieu of flowers or gifts, please consider honoring Lloyd's legacy of kindness. Listen to others. Give generously to others. Build up and support the dreams that others carry deep in their hearts.

"May God in His Mercy and love cherish and keep each of you, and draw you one day into His bosom, and make all things clear and whole and perfect. May we one day share each other's lives there as we have here." - R. Lloyd Corwin
