Ronald Herbert Heath, 78, of Bellefontaine, Ohio left this earth to be with the Heavenly Father December 30, 2011. He was born September 9, 1933, in Middleburg, Ohio to the late Elmer Orlando and Irma Louise (Antrim) Heath. The youngest of seven children, Ron was an independent soul guided by the precepts of honesty, integrity, and a love of family.
He attended Middleburg High School, leaving in 1952 to join the Navy and served in the Korean War. While in the service, he traveled to the Arctic Circle, Turkey, the Mediterranean, and other exotic places. He returned to Logan County and married Betty Jean Hamm March 10, 1957 in Middleburg, Ohio. Together, they had three children; Don (Linh) Heath of Bellefontaine, Janet (Joe) Murphy of Cincinnati, Ohio and Roy (Chelsea) Heath of Bellefontaine. Also surviving is a brother, Mike (Doris) Heath of Bellefontaine; a sister-in-law, Clarabelle Heath of West Liberty, Ohio; ten grandchildren and one great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Homer Heath, Ralph Burton Heath and Robert Heath, and sisters, Shirley Heath Teets Austin and Irma Grace Heath Koester.
Ron was a member of the Hi-Point Church of Christ in Bellefontaine and the B.P.O.E. #132. An avid automobile collector, Ron was known for his affinity to Mopar products, especially the Chrysler line. He had a gift for both sales and plumbing and successfully owned Ron Heath Plumbing Service for several years. He and Betty retired to Sebring, Florida, where he passed away after a lengthy illness.
Rev. Mike Sandlin will officiate the 10:30 A.M. funeral service Saturday, January 7, 2012 at the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine, where calling hours are from 4 to 7 P.M. Friday, January 6, 2012. Interment will be at the Middleburg Cemetery in Middleburg, Ohio.
