Ronald Mack Oaks

Ronald Mack Oaks, 79, of Bellefontaine, died peacefully at 6:58pm on Sunday evening, October 16, 2022, at home surrounded by his family.

Ron was born on June 10, 1943, in Huntsville, Texas, son of the late Paul Morris and Rachel Ann (Hovis) Oaks.  He married the love of his life, Yvonne Marie Fuller on June 26, 1966, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and she preceded him in death on November 28, 2005.  Ron was also preceded in death by sisters Paula McFarlin and Theodora Oaks-Clark.

Ron is survived by his son: Christopher (Kyra) Oaks of Findlay; daughter: Stephanie Oaks of Bellefontaine; foster daughters: Suzann Ross of Conroe, Texas, Jennifer Rubel of Walbridge, Ohio, Brandy (Marty) Walters of Indianapolis, Kim (Duane) Ritter of Bellefontaine, and Patricia (Jason) Meyers of Bellefontaine; sister Brenda (Dan) Wray of Denver, Colorado; brother Steve (Becky) Oaks of Rushsylvania; brother-in-law Glenn Clark of Las Vegas; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A 1961 graduate of Riverside High School, DeGraff, and a 1965 graduate of The Ohio State University, Ron retired in 1997 after 31 years of teaching at Lakeview Elementary, because his wife made him teach one more year so they could retire together.

Ron was a member of the OSU Alumni Association, Ohio Retired Teachers, The Top of Ohio Cruisers, sharing a love for classic cars with his wife.  He also loved to bowl and was a member of numerous bowling leagues.  Ron loved going on vacations with his family and sharing in the many adventures with the love of his life after their retirement.

Pastor Larry Novak will officiate Ron’s funeral on Monday, October 24, 2022, at 11am at Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Bellefontaine.  Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 23, from 1-4pm at the funeral home.  Burial will be in Highland Memorial Cemetery.
