Rose Evelyn Hereld, 88, of Jackson Center, Ohio, passed away at 11:06 A.M. Sunday, October 28, 2012 at Lakeland Hills Center in Lakeland, Florida.
She was born in Logan County Ohio November 6, 1923, to the late George P. and Ruth N. Ickes Helmlinger. On February 17, 1946, she married Bernard W. Hereld in Jackson Center and he preceded her in death July 20, 2005.
A 1941 graduate of Washington High School, she worked at Airstream in Jackson Center, the Ohio Department of Highways in Sidney, Ohio, and was appointed the first Clerk of the Board of Shelby County Commissioners in 1962. She held that position for nineteen years until her retirement in 1981. She was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church in Jackson Center.
Rose is survived by her children Gary W. (Debra) Hereld of Jackson Center and Linda D. (Michael) Moser of Lakeland, Florida; three grandchildren Anthony R. (Allison) Hereld of Sidney, Heather R. (Chris) Wendel of Lakeland, Florida and Rachel (Derrick) Wells of Botkins, Ohio; eight great-grandchildren Sienna Hereld-Borger of Florence, Kentucky, Drew Hereld of Sidney, Mason Hereld of Sidney, Luke Yerkey of Sidney, Chance Hereld of Sidney, Holden Wendel of Lakeland, Florida, Deja Wells of Botkins, and Rayden Wells of Botkins; and her brother Ralph E. (Margaret) Helmlinger of Jackson Center.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Nov. 17, 2012 at 11 A.M. at the Grace Lutheran Church in Jackson Center with Pastor Bill Maki officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the Glen Cemetery in Port Jefferson, Ohio. Memorial contributions may be made to: Good Shepherd Hospice.
The staff of the Smith-Eichholtz Funeral Home in Jackson Center handled the arrangements.
