Rosie Penhorwood, 73, of Bellefontaine, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, September 22, 2022, while on vacation in Cape Cod, Massachusetts. 

She was born in Bellefontaine, OH on February 27, 1949, the daughter of the late Perry and Mildred (Oliver) Miller.

On October 20, 1967, she married her high school sweetheart, Doug Penhorwood in Zanesfield, OH and had 56 wonderful years of marriage.

She is also survived by two sons; Greg (Stacy) and their children, Bailey and Riley, Matt (Melissa) and their children, Parker, Harper, Carson, Lukas, and Lacey, her siblings; Phil (Judy Lenhart) Miller, Don (Tami) Miller, several nieces and nephews, sister-in-laws, Shirley Miller, Roxanne (Rick) Steinke, Vicky Ricketts, Sonya Banta, Lisa (Jim) Boren, a brother-in-law, Richard Penhorwood, and special friends, Gayland “Pope” and Diane.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Perry Miller, Jr., her in-laws; Lawrence & Margaret Penhorwood and Norma & C.T. Richardson, Mike Ricketts, Jenny Penhorwood and a grandson-in-law, Zac Hemmelgarn.

Rosie graduated from Logan Hills High School in 1967.  She worked at Super Foods in Bellefontaine for 28 years in the accounting department.  She was a 2001 graduate from Urbana University, where she graduated summa cum laude and was valedictorian.

She enjoyed crocheting, doing puzzles, motorcycle trips with Doug in their younger years along with Butch and Judy Lenhart.  More recently, she has been enjoying senior citizen bus trips with her great friend, Carol Moon.  She was an amazing cook loved to read, senior citizen lunches, bowling, fishing, and attending her grandkids’ events.  What she enjoyed the most was to spend time with her family.

Pastor Joe Ziraldo will officiate a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 1, 2022, in the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 321 N. Main St., Bellefontaine.  Visitation will be Friday, September 30th from 3 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home and again one hour prior to the service on Saturday.  Burial will follow in York Center Cemetery, Union County.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Logan County Friendly Senior Center (New Sign Fund), 934 S. Main Street, Bellefontaine, Ohio 43311.
