Roy L. Angle, 92, of Bellefontaine, died Wednesday, September 3, 2008, at Logan Acres Care Center in Bellefontaine. He was born in Putnam County, West Virginia, June 2, 1916, a son of the late John and Laura Erwin Angle.
On June 10, 1941, he married the former Iris Everly Mouser in Springfield, and she survives, along with two sons, David (Mikell) Angle of Coldwater, Michigan, and Michael (Nancy) Angle of Bellefontaine; two daughters, Barbara (Richard) Neer of Sidney, Ohio and Lynn (Gary) McLaughlin of Bellefontaine; three sisters, Agnes Strayer of Canton, North Carolina, Helen Porter of Denver, and Hallie Elliott of Bellefontaine; 12 grandchildren, Patrick Angle, Shelly Hart, Bart Angle, Brad Angle, Jon Angle, Andy Barger, Susan Yee, Mark Barger, Teresa Linville, Jennifer Moody, Nick Tillman and Stacy Penhorwood; 23 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Kenneth, Clarence, Vinson and Lloyd Angle; and a grandchild, Suzanne Angle.
A U.S. Navy veteran, he served aboard the U.S.S. Vestal from 1936 to 1940. He worked as an air base civil engineer for the 664th AC&W Squadron for 18 years. He also worked at Patterson Field and at the Indian Lake State Park for 12 years each.
He was a 55-year member of First United Methodist Church in Bellefontaine and an 18-year member of NARFE. A machinist, he enjoyed building things.
Rev. Ed Beale will conduct the funeral service at 1:30 p.m. Monday, September 8, 2008, at the First United Methodist Church, where visitation is two hours prior to the service. Interment is in the Fairview Cemetery in West Liberty, Ohio, where the Logan County Honor Guard conducts a military service.
Memorial contributions may be made to the church, Warm Coats for Kids and Universal Home Health & Hospice.
The staff of the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine handled the arrangements.
