Roy E. Tallman, 90, of Zanesfield, Ohio, passed away Wednesday, January 27, 2010, at Hospice of Palm Beach County in Delray Beach, Florida. He was born March 12, 1917 in Zanesfield, Ohio, to the late Charles C. and Louvene (Rudisill) Tallman.
On September 24, 1942, he married Alberta B. Fergus in Bellefontaine, Ohio, and she preceded him in death July 2, 1990. Also preceding him in death was a daughter, Carol Lea Tallman; brothers, Earl and Charles Tallman; a sister, Mozelle Detwiler; and a grandson.
He is survived by his daughters, Jerry Lou (Lowell) Brose of Mt. Victory, Ohio, Alice Mae (Ron) Powell of Boyton Beach, Florida, and Jo Anna (Joe) Johnson of Cincinnati, Ohio; a sister, Mary E. Roberts of Rushsylvania, Ohio; and five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Roy worked for the T.C. Vanicia Co. in Bellefontaine, and later worked as a Union Plummer retiring April 1, 1979.
A member of the Zanesfield United Methodist Church, Roy was a World War II Army veteran. He liked all sports and was an avid golfer and played until two years ago.
In keeping with the wishes of the deceased, there will be no viewing. However, the family will host an evening of sharing memories and celebrating his life to be held Tuesday, February 2, 2010, from 6:30 to 8:30 P.M. at the Zanesfield United Methodist Church social room. A graveside service will be held at the Zanesfield Cemetery on Wednesday, February 3, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Bonnie Frost officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to the Zanesfield United Methodist Church 2880 Main St. Zanesfield, OH 43360 or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
The staff at the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine assisted the family with the arrangements.
