Ruby Fasshauer, 94, of Bellefontaine, formerly of Jackson Center, passed away at 12:59 p.m. on Monday, June 27, 2016 at her daughter’s residence. She was born in Jackson Center, Ohio on April 1, 1922 to the late Logan L. and Sophia C. (Zwiebel) Arnett. On October 31, 1945 she married Bernard C. Fasshauer who preceded her in death, March 21, 1996, along with a brother, Edwin Arnett; and sister, Ester Arnett.

She is survived by a daughter, Ruth Anne (Charles) Lamb of Bellefontaine; grandchildren, Jeffrey Fleeger of Newark, Mark (Mary) Fleeger of Middletown, Terri Lamb and David (Stephanie) Lamb, both of Bellefontaine; great grandchildren, Madison, Aiden, Reed, Brittney Lea, Brittney Anne, Kaley, Kyley, Zach, Corey, Tara, Megan, Amanda, and Austin; great-great grandchildren, Crosley, Cason, Cruz, Olivia, and Serenity; sister-in-law, Eloise Fasshauer of Pennsylvania; nieces and nephews, Richard (Jan) Arnett of Michigan, Susan Baron of Florida, Mary (Paul) Lloyd, Jane (Jerry) Theobald, and Tom (Gail) Fasshauer, all of Pennsylvania; and numerous great nieces and nephews.

Ruby was a Jackson Center graduate, where she was Valedictorian of her class. She was an honor student while doing her nurses training with Fort Wayne Lutheran Hospital. Ruby was a Registered Nurse who began working in the Army Nurse Corp, during World War II. After the war, she was employed and became director of nurses’ with Wilson Memorial Hospital in Sidney. Ruby later worked for Dr. Schroer’s office and with Fair Haven Shelby County Home, both in Sidney. She was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Sidney and of the Scherer Post #493 American Legion in Jackson Center. Ruby was the first woman accepted into the Jackson Center American Legion. On April 19, 2014, she was inducted into the Jackson Center Education Foundation Hall of Fame. Ruby enjoyed making cancer pads, hospice gowns, and blankets for missionaries overseas. She volunteered her service to the Salvation Army, Home Health Care, & F.I.S.H.

Pastor Kenneth Castor will officiate a funeral service at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 1, 2016 at the Redeemer Lutheran Church, Sidney. Visitation will be Thursday, June 30, 2016 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home, 214 W. Pike, Jackson Center and one hour prior to the service on Friday at the church. Burial will be in Glen Cemetery in Port Jefferson.

Funeral arrangements are in the care of the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home in Jackson Center.
