Rudolph M. “Rudy” Rogan, 81, of Bellefontaine passed away Thursday, April 7, 2016 at St. Rita’s Medical Center, Lima. Rudy was born in Urbana on June 25, 1934 to the late Lonnie and Bertha (Artis) Rogan. He was also preceded in death by three brothers: Perry, Howard and John Rogan.
Rudy was a graduate of Salem High School and a veteran of the US Army, having served during the Korean Conflict. He retired from Ford Motor Company after twenty-five years of service. Rudy enjoyed bowling, watching football and playing baseball. He had a passion for teaching youngsters the game of baseball and watching their game improve. Rudy was a past member of the NAACP.
Rudy is survived by his wife, Brenda S. (Horsley) Rogan, whom he married in Bellefontaine on November 20, 2000. He is also survived by his children: Byron Rogan of Alger, Kevin (Shaia) Rogan of Marino Valley, CA, Keith Rogan of Bellefontaine, Gary (Tonia) Rogan of Bellefontaine, Stuart Rogan of Long Beach, CA, Cynthia (Jeff) Hall of Bellefontaine, Sharon Rogan of Marino Valley, CA, Pam (Randy) Routt of Columbus, Todd Rogan of Bellefontaine, Rochelle Rogan of Bellefontaine; step-children: David Williams of Bellefontaine and Dawnisha Williams of Bellefontaine; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; mother of his children Betty Rogan of Bellefontaine; his siblings: Martha Rogan of Columbus, Charlotte Sinclair of Cable, Willard (Stella) Rogan of Cable, Iva Harris of Urbana, Louis Rogan of Columbus, Nancy (Ron) Evans of Springfield and Marva Rogan of Cable; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pastor Abraham Kenner will officiate the funeral on Thursday, April 14, 2016 at 1pm at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home, Bellefontaine where visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral. Burial will be in Huntsville Cemetery with military honors provided by the Logan County Veteran Honor Guard.
