Ruth Fawcett

Ruth E. Fawcett, 88, of Rushsylvania passed away at 3:57 a.m. on Saturday, June 13, 2015 at Heartland of Bellefontaine. She was born in Rushsylvania, Ohio on October 7, 1926 to the late Fred and Bertha (Ansley) Roberts.

On November 25, 1949 she married Bruce D. Fawcett in Rushsylvania, who preceded her in death on September 13, 2001. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Lucille Roberts and Helen J. Roberts; and three brothers, John M. Roberts, Paul O. “Bud” Roberts and Harry A. Roberts.

Ruth is survived by her children, Susan (Don) Corwin of Harper and Robert (Kim) Fawcett of Zanesfield; three grandchildren, Lloyd Corwin of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Nicole Fawcett of Newport Beach, California and Joseph Fawcett of New Orleans, Louisiana; three sisters-in-law, Rachel Roberts, Mary Elizabeth Roberts and June Roberts; and many nieces and nephews.

Ruth graduated salutatorian of the Rushsylvania High School Class of 1944. A life-long member of the Rushsylvania Church of Christ, she worked as a rural letter carrier for 28 years. She was a member of O.E.S. Harriett Chapter #252 and Bellefontaine O.E.S. Chapter #459. Ruth served as the permanent secretary of the Rushsylvania Alumni for over 55 years and was a member of Rhoda Circle of Christian Service. She loved to fish, read, garden, work in the yard, attend musicals, band events and Eastern Star functions. An avid sports fan, Ruth especially enjoyed following Penn State volleyball and Ohio State football. Her passion for giving was evident in her desire to help others and donate to missions.

Visitation will be Tuesday, June 16, 2015 from 3-7 pm. at the Rushsylvania Church of Christ, 170 E. Mill Street, Rushsylvania, Ohio with an Eastern Star Service beginning at 7:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 17th at the church, with Pastors Craig Howie, Lynn Cleaveland and Mike Roberts officiating. Burial will be in Rushsylvania Cemetery in Rushsylvania, Ohio.
