Ruth Irwin

Ruth G. Irwin, 94, of Bellefontaine Ohio, passed away Saturday, November 30, 2013 at the Campbell House in Bellefontaine.

She was born February 12, 1919, in Logan County Ohio, the daughter of the late Raymond A. ‘Whitey’ and Glaydes (Thompson) Linn.

On April 6, 1946, she married Dr. Glenn Fletcher ‘Doc’ Irwin, D.V.M. and he preceded her in death February 13, 2007. She was also preceded in death by a son, David Harris; a daughter, Nancy J. Irwin and a sister-in-law, Deborah Linn.

She is survived by her son, Dr. Timothy (Linda) Irwin, D.V.M. of Bellefontaine and three daughters, Karen (Michael) Kennedy of Bellefontaine, Janet (Carl) McMullen of Columbus, Ohio and Ruthie Lambert of Bellefontaine; one brother, Richard T. Linn of Medford, Oregon; ten grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren.

Ruth was a 1937 graduate of Bellefontaine High School and longtime member of the First United Presbyterian Church in Bellefontaine. She worked with her husband at the Irwin Animal Hospital. She was a member of the Hilliker YMCA where she enjoyed water aerobics and also belonged to several different Card Clubs. She was an avid quilter and belonged to both sewing and quilting clubs. She loved to travel and later in her life, she loved to ride her bicycle.

The funeral service will be held Thursday, December 5, 2013, at 2:00 P.M. at the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine with Rev. Rob Fulton and Gene Marine officiating. Calling hours will be held Wednesday, December 4, 2013 from 4 to 7 P.M. at the funeral home and also one hour prior to Thursday’s funeral service. Interment will be at the Bellefontaine Cemetery in Bellefontaine.
