Ruth Kerns

Ruth Pauline Kerns, 86, of Belle Center, Ohio, passed away at 5:30 A.M. Saturday, January 25, 2014, at her home. She was born in Logan County Ohio December 31, 1927, to the late Milo Andrew and Mary Margaret (Kline) Ricketts.

On August 29, 1948, she married her husband of sixty one years, Sidney Earl Kerns, and he preceded her in death October 11, 2009. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Ralph Ricketts and a sister-in-law, Pat Ricketts.

She is survived by her son, Stephen Michael Kerns of Leslie, Arkansas and her daughter, Mary Ann (Vernon) Brown of Belle Center; four grandchildren, Amy (Larry) Kramer, Michael David (Michele) Brown, Stephen Aaron Brown and Stephanie Ann (Heath) Murphy; eight great grandchildren, Trenton Kramer, Shelby Kramer, Mickayla Brown, Logan Scott Brown, Cierra Jade Brown, Elizabeth Kay Brown, Addison Ann Murphy and Reese Kaitlyn Murphy; seven siblings, Milo Ricketts Jr. of Bellefontaine, Ohio, Betty (Bill) Kreinbihl of Mansfield, Ohio, Glen (Joann) Ricketts of Virginia, Jack (Pat) Ricketts of Westerville, Ohio, Bill (Melva) Ricketts of Belle Center, Jim (Judy) Ricketts of Arizona, Dick (Brenda) Ricketts of Indiana, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A 1945 graduate of Belle Center High School and a homemaker, she enjoyed watching sporting events of not only her brothers, but of her grandchildren and great grandchildren as well. Ruth served faithfully as a member of the New Richland Baptist Church where she had assisted with Vacation Bible School and served as the financial secretary.

The funeral service will be conducted at 12:00 noon Thursday, January 30, 2014, at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home in Belle Center. Calling hours will be two hours prior to the funeral. Interment will be at the Fairview Cemetery in Belle Center.
