Sandra J. Michael Adams, 88, of DeGraff, passed away peacefully at 1:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 17, 2023, at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Bryan, Ohio on May 14, 1935, a daughter of the late Hal W. Leu and Jewel E. (Gore) Leu.
On October 4, 1954, Sandy married Harold Dale Michael and he preceded her in death in September 1964.
Sandy is survived by five children; Condrae Michael, Denise Michael, Pam (Bruce) Fout, Carl L. (Judy) Adams, and Jacqueline Ledley; 12 grandchildren, Edward Michael, Leiah Michael, Tracie (Dan) Allen, Dustyn Schindewolf, Kail Guyan, Cory (Lora) Fout, Brittian (John) Hunkler, Nick (Amnitty) Fout, Carl C. (Larissa) Adams, Alisha (Chris) Kindle, Malana (Ben) Huffman, and Mara Ledley; 18 great grandchildren; 7 step great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; 6 step great great grandchildren; a brother, Edward A. Leu; and a daughter-in-law, Ellie Michael. In addition to her parents, Sandy was preceded in death by her son, Jeffery Michael, and a brother, Richard L. Leu.
Sandy dearly loved her special friends, Rick & Brenda Halterman, Esther Moore, Irene Garman, Sharon Holsberry, Charles McFadden, and Marilyn Londres.
A graduate of Bryan High School and Stautzenberger College, Sandy retired from Knowlton Construction Company where she had worked as an accountant for 32 years. She also served as treasurer for Tuxis Circle of Kings Daughters and Sons, and traveled with her business Design A Memory, helping others with capturing memories through digital imaging.
An avid sports fan, Sandy enjoyed watching the Minnesota Vikings and Ohio State Buckeyes. She had coached the women’s Blue Streaks and Brew Crew softball teams, organized men’s Sunday night softball league in Quincy, and held numerous tournaments in Lakeview and Mad River Mountain. Sandy belonged to several bridge clubs and her most fond memories were a trip to Hawaii, family gatherings, and watching her grandchildren and great grandchildren play sports.
Per Sandy’s request, her body was donated to The Ohio State University Division of Anatomy.
The family will receive friends from 4-6 p.m. on Saturday, October 28, 2023, at the Daring & Sanford Funeral Home, 210 W. Hayes Street in DeGraff. Burial will follow in Brown’s Cemetery in Bryan, Ohio at a later date.
