Sandy Shuff, 69, Jackson Center, passed away Wednesday, October 4, 2023, at Lima Memorial Hospital.
Sandy was born on November 22, 1953, in Sidney, Ohio, to the late Marvin E. and Joyce M. (Heintz) Rostorfer.
Sandy is survived by her husband Roy Shuff, whom she married on June 28, 1980. She is also survived by a son Patrick (Michelle) Shuff; 3 grandchildren: Jax, Rocco, and Bellamy, and a baby boy on the way; sisters: Sheryle (Ron) Ludwig, Michele (Tom) Prickett, and Marlene (Kent) Laughman; brothers Timothy Rostorfer and Ted Rostorfer; several nieces and nephews; and special friends Joe and the late Lynn Case, as well as her many friends in the greater Shelby County EMS Community.
Sandy was a 1971 graduate of Jackson Center High School. She received her associates degree from Lima Technical College and began her career as a registered nurse. After moving back to Jackson Center in 1994 Sandy started running with the Jackson Center Rescue Squad as a paramedic. In addition to running with the squad Sandy was also an EMS/paramedic instructor at Rhodes State College and Apollo Career Center. Through the years Sandy has helped save countless lives by helping hundreds of students train to become life saving paramedics. Over her 25 years in EMS Sandy also ran on Anna and Perry Port-Salem Rescue Squads and served as the EMS Coordinator for Shelby County for 3 years. A “crafting hoarder”, she enjoyed quilting, basket weaving, and many other crafty projects. Sandy was a member of the Jackson Center Methodist Church.
Rev. Randy Bratka will officiate a memorial service for Sandra on Monday, October 16, 2023, at 11am at the Jackson Center Methodist Church, where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Jackson Center Seventh Day Adventist Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Shelby County EMS or your local EMS organization.
