Sarah E. Forsyth, 101, of Jackson Center ended her life journey at Fair Haven Home with her family surrounding her on October 5, 2015 at 11:24 p.m. Sarah entered this world on May 4, 1914 a tiny two pound baby girl born to the late F.A. and Lulu Anna Smith McKercher. A shoe box with warming irons became her incubator.
On November 10, 1937 Sarah married John Wilson Forsyth in Jackson Center, Ohio, and he preceded her in death on April 15, 1993. She was also preceded in death by two children, Jean Marie and Robert Lee; a great grandson, Brice Michael; a brother, Russell Lingle McKercher; and a half-sister, Vonda Long.
Sarah is survived by her three children; Jeannine A. (John) Rostorfer, William E. Forsyth and Kay E. Hunt; seven grandchildren, Jeffrey, Jay and Jason Rostorfer, Lorri Barga, John Forsyth, Gregory Herren and Gina Skorupski; 22 great grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; a special sister-in-law, Blanche Leininger; and several nieces and nephews.
A 1932 Wapakoneta Blume High School graduate, Sarah had worked as a Cafeteria Cook for Jackson Center Local Schools. She was a member of the Jackson Center United Methodist Church, Sorris Club, a 70 year member of Pleiades Chapter #298 O.E.S. in Sidney and served as a Girl Scout and 4-H Leader for several years.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 9, 2015 from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at the Jackson Center United Methodist Church with an Eastern Star service beginning at 8:00 p.m. Pastor Rob Ulmer will officiate a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 10, 2015 at the church with one hour of visitation prior to the funeral. Burial will be in Glen Cemetery in Port Jefferson, Ohio.
Sarah’s family wishes to express their deep appreciation to the staff for the love and care they have given to Sarah and their entire family during her stay at Fair Haven.
Funeral arrangements are in the care of the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home in Jackson Center.
