Sherry Lee Maxwell, 84, of Russells Point passed away Sunday, October 4, 2015 at his home with this family around him.

He was born in Russells Point on August 22, 1931, the son of the late George and Violet (Taylor) Maxwell. He graduated from Washington Local, Lewistown in the class of 1950. He married his high school sweetheart, Juliajane “Judy” (Golden) on July 3, 1951 in Russells Point and she survives.

He is also survived by one daughter, Cindy (John) Boone, grandson, Shawn (Samantha) Boone, granddaughter, Jennifer (Greg) Shaw, Danielle Tackett, brother, Laris and sister, Delrose, brother-in-law, Thomas (Jennifer) Golden, daughter-in-law, Joan Maxwell, great grandsons, Damion Gavin Boone, Damon Shaw, great granddaughters, Alexandra Sale, Claire, Sabrina, and Sierra Boone and Kelsey Burt, four nieces and two nephews and several great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a son, Barry Maxwell, a brother, Dexter Beatley, a sister-in-law, Betty Beatley, a granddaughter, Heather Shaw, and a great grandson, Reiley Jacob Boone.

He was a United States Air Force Veteran of the Korean Conflict serving with the 79th Fighter Bomber Squadron. He was a life-long resident of Russells Point and loved to talk Indian Lake history to anyone who would listen. In his youth, he volunteered for the Russells Point Fire Department. He was a life member of the AMVETS, Lakeview, Masonic Lodge F&AM and served as Worthy Patron of the Order of Eastern Star. He was a charter member of the Indian Lake Fish & Game and he was awarded the Sportsman of the Year honor.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He fished from his dock nearly every day. He made several fishing trips to the Boundary Waters in Minnesota and a hunting trip to Wyoming. He made trips to Michigan each year for 30 plus years mushroom hunting. He spent many years on the study of mycology. He spent 10 winters in Florida until his poor health prevented him from going back. He and his wife, Judy made many trips throughout the U.S. visiting 45 of the 50 states. His favorite trip was the 52 days when they visited Alaska.

He was employed at Merchants Industries for 30 years and later worked and retired from Mobile Instruments.

Pastor Jim Ellington will officiate a memorial service on Friday, October 9, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at the Indian Lake Community Church, 120 S Orchard Island Rd, Russells Point. Visitation will be on Thursday from 6 to 8:00 PM at the church with a Masonic Service beginning at 8:00 PM. Burial will be in Huntsville Cemetery following the service on Friday with military rites provided by the Logan County Veteran Honor Guard.

Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Bellefontaine assisted the family with arrangements.
