Shirley A. (Duff) Ammons, 86, of Newark, Ohio passed away Thursday morning, September 16, 2021 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Shirley was born in Bellefontaine, Ohio March 3, 1935, to the late Donald I. and Thelma Avis (Moore) Duff. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Bette Beckwith and brothers, Karl Duff, Kenneth Duff and Keith Duff.
Shirley is survived by her husband of sixty seven years, Lewis “Pete” Ammons; daughters and sons-in-law: Kimberly J. and Andy Green of Westerville, Ohio, Karen L. Ammons of Gahanna, Ohio and Kayra A. and Barry Neighbor of Knoxville, Tennessee; five grandchildren: Brittney L. (Peter) Barclay, Kroy R. (Kimberly) Busche, Kole A. (Nicole) Busche, Ryan (Emily) Green and Corey Green and nine great-grandchildren.
Shirley enjoyed traveling across the United States and visiting National Parks, her favorite being the Smokey Mountains. During their retirement years, Shirley and Pete spent winters in their camper enjoying the South with their friends. She also used that time to perfect her oil painting skills.
Friends may call Tuesday, September 21, 2021 at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Bellefontaine from 4 to 7 p.m.
A private family graveside will be held at a later date in the Zanesfield Cemetery.
