Shirley Burke

Shirley Evelyn Burke, 84, of DeGraff passed away Sunday morning, August 14, 2016 at Green Hills Care Center. She was born in Logan County on June 20, 1932 to the late Lester and Clarabelle (Shigley) Hall. She was also preceded in death by an infant son, a sister Maxine Goings, a brother and a half-brother.

Shirley attended DeGraff High School and was a member of the DeGraff United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star #459 in Bellefontaine, Past-President of the VFW Post #3528 Ladies Auxiliary where she had been President for seven years. Shirley was also a member of the Sidney VFW Post #4239 Ladies Auxiliary.

Shirley is survived by her husband William Burke, whom she married on October 18, 1975 in DeGraff. She is also survived by sons Timothy D. (Kathy) Latimer of Bellefontaine, Ken (Rita) Latimer of Tennessee and Jeffery L. (Valarie) Latimer of Bellefontaine; daughters: Karen (Terry) Heath of Quincy and Karol (Robert) Cummings of Belle Center; 15 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Daring & Sanford Funeral Home, 210 West Hayes St. DeGraff, on Wednesday, August 17, 2016 from 6-8pm. Pastor Michael Mitchell and Rev. Kym James will officiate the funeral on Thursday, August 18 at 10am at the funeral home. Burial will be in Greenwood-Union Cemetery.
