Shirley Ann Core, age 86, of Bellefontaine, Ohio went home to be with her Lord Sunday, December 19, 2021 at Mary Rutan Hospital in Bellefontaine.
She was born in Logan County Ohio September 5, 1935, a child of Jason Wardner and Edna Lucinda Swartz.
She was married to the love of her life Jack Clifford Core May 9, 1954, and he preceded her in death November 14, 2019. She spent the last 2 years longing to join him but continued to spread her positive spirit, compassion, and love for others without ceasing, a constant inspiration for those who loved her most.
She is Mother to Lynda (Dan) Rhoades, Bob (Pat) Core, John (Vickie) Core, and Tom (Dawn) Core. Grandmother to Chris Trabert, Todd Alloway, Jaclyn Britenstine, Jessica (Derrick) Rausch, Steve Truesdale, Clifton (Sara) Core, Betty (Bobby) Justice, Emily (Jake) Stone, Heather Core, and Evan Core, Great-Grandmother to Jared (Kelsey) Trabert, Gavin Trabert, Levi Britenstine, Noah Britenstine, Lyndsay Rausch, Madison Rausch, Abigail Justice, Nolan Core, Clara Core, Grant Core, Eli Stone, Layla Stone, Lincoln (Ralph) Core and TJ Morua, and Great-Great-Grandmother to Addilyn Rose Trabert. She is also survived by sister, Wanda (Larry) ‘Grigsby of North Carolina and brother-in-law, James Core of Lima and many nieces and nephews.
Shirley graduated from Belle Center High School in 1953. She was a Lover of Jesus that kept Christ alive in her home. Through the years she held a variety of positions, office worker at Knowlton’s, oil-colored photos at Hadley’s, clerk for Sears, factory worker at CTS, secretary at Bellefontaine High School, and an aide for the Day Care Center of the JVS. She attended the South Union Mennonite Church where she enjoyed playing piano for services, singing, and the company of the women’s work.
Pastor Matthew Williams will officiate the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, December 23, 2021 at the Belle Center United Methodist Church in Belle Center, Ohio.
Visitation will be held Thursday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the church.
Burial will be at the Fairview Cemetery in Belle Center.
Memorial contributions may be made to any charity of the donor’s choice.
The staff of the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Bellefontaine is honored to serve the Core family.
