Shirley Rae Lenhart

Shirley Rae Lenhart, age 82, of Lewistown, Ohio passed away at 3:31 A.M. Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at her son’s residence. She was born in Lima, Ohio February 26, 1935, to the late Ray Alvin and Leudema E. (Wise) Elliott.  Shirley then lived with her grandparents Harley and Jenny Wise in Jackson Center, Ohio.

On February 14, 1952, in Blackford County, Indiana she married Warren William “Bill” Lenhart and he preceded her in death, May 28, 2010.  She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Derek Brideweser; brothers, Charles (Carol) Felix, Jack Felix, and Bruce Clayton; and her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Doris Ann and Emory Byrd.

She is survived by her son, Steven (Iva) Lenhart; a daughter, Diane (Ronald) Frank, both of Jackson Center; grandchildren, Aaron (Holly) Lenhart, Heather Parks, Adam (Angela) Lenhart, Haley (Nicolas) Bryant, Megan Brideweser, and Daniel Frank; great grandchildren, Andrew Lenhart, Bailey Fausnaugh, Hunter Lenhart, Adalyn Lenhart, Alden Lenhart, Anderson Lenhart, Alexander Lenhart, and Jensen Bryant; her sister, Janice (Vern, Jr.) Nill of Piqua, Ohio; a sister-in-law, Janet Schnell of Jackson Center; a brother-in-law, John (Sharon) Lenhart of Jackson Center; several nieces and nephews and her special dog, BJ.

Shirley was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church in Jackson Center, The Farm Bureau, The Friends of the Okeechobee Florida Library and the American Legion Auxiliary in Sidney, Ohio. She was a homemaker who loved to garden, and really had a “green thumb.” Shirley also enjoyed reading, being outdoors, her pets, and doing needlework. She and her husband, Bill, were “snowbirds” and spent many years wintering in Florida.

Pastor Mike Tamorria will officiate the funeral service at 11 A.M. Saturday, February 3, 2018 at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home in Jackson Center. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Burial will follow the funeral service at the Glen Cemetery in Port Jefferson, Ohio.
