Stanley Adelbert Smith, 74, of Bellefontaine, Ohio, passed away at 7:45 A.M. Sunday, December 22, 2013 at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Fresno, California July 27, 1939, a son of the late Stanley Eugene and Nannie (Frances) Smith. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Kimberly JoAnn (John) Deno.

Survivors include his wife of twenty five years, Jeannine Eleanor Smith; sons, Stanley Eugene Smith, III of Michigan, Patrick Frederick (Kelly) Smith of Chicago, Illinois; daughters, Kathleen Janet (Joe) Lambert of Richwood, Ohio, Katherine Marie (Mark) Colasanti of Columbus, Ohio; seven grandchildren, Steven, Andrew, and Nina Smith, Heather Harmon, Joseph and Faith Deno, Blake Smith; great-grandchildren, Kaidy Harmon and Kroix Brown; a sister-in-law, Jody (Robert) Johns of Bellefontaine, Ohio and a brother-in-law, Tom (Patricia) Diener of Bellefontaine.

A 1957 graduate of Bakersfield High School, he received his Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from San Jose State University in 1962 and a Master of Business Administration degree from Michigan State University in 1974.

Stanley worked in various upper/senior management positions for companies including Parke-Davis, Federal Mogul, JPI and DAB Industries in Bellefontaine. Noteworthy, he worked early in his career as an engineer for the United Technology Center in San Jose, California in the development of the Titan rocket project. During his retirement years, he enjoyed creating projects with people while working at Lowe’s in Bellefontaine.

Father Patrick Sheridan will conduct a funeral service at 11 A.M. Saturday, December 28, 2013, at the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine. Calling hours will be held Friday, December 27, 2013, from 1 to 3 P.M. and 5 to 7 P.M. at the funeral home. Interment will be at the Bellefontaine Cemetery in Bellefontaine, Ohio.
