Steven L. Skidmore of Bellefontaine, Ohio, passed away in his home surrounded by his family Friday evening October 12, 2012. He was born in Bellefontaine December 29, 1948, the son of the late DeWeese L. and Amy K. (Neer) Skidmore who resides in West Liberty, Ohio.

On June 7, 1975 in Bellefontaine, Steve married Dottie L. McDonal and she survives in Bellefontaine. Also surviving are their two children, Cory (Barbara) Skidmore of Marysville, Ohio and Aryelle (Charles) Howe of Grelton, Ohio: grandchildren Sophia and Flynn Skidmore, Chloe and Carter Howe and a brother, Timothy D. (Kathleen) Skidmore of Bellefontaine.

A 1967 graduate of Bellefontaine High School and the F.B.I. Academy at Quantico, Virginia, Steve had worked for the Logan County Sheriff Department and the Logan County Prosecutors Office. Steve was currently working for the Logan County Family Courts.

Steve was a member of the Bellefontaine First United Methodist Church and a former Scout Master of Troop # 182. He was a Past President of the Bellefontaine Kiwanas Club, Past President and Life Member of the Logan County Fish and Game and was an active member of the Logan County Historical Society. Steve enjoyed being in the woods deer and turkey hunting and French and Indian War reenactments. Steve served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.

Those who knew Steve understood he never met a stranger. It was not important for him to get the last laugh; however, he always got a laugh.

Calling hours are Tuesday October 16, 2012 from 4 to 8 P.M. at the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine and one hour prior to the funeral service Wednesday, October 17, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. The funeral service will be conducted by Pastors Ed Beale and Jeff Willits. Interment will be at the Fairview Cemetery in West Liberty.
