Terence Burton

Terence Edward Burton, 71, formerly of Bellefontaine, Ohio, passed away Sunday, September 9, 2012 at Green Hills Care Center in West Liberty, Ohio. He was born in Bellefontaine November 23, 1940, to the late Lloyd “Tom” and Freda (Smith) Burton.

Terence was a 1958 graduate of Bellefontaine High School and was a 1962 graduate of The Ohio State University with a Liberal Arts degree. While attending Ohio State, he was the Drum Major for the marching band in 1961, and a member of Delta Upsilon Fraternity. A member of the Peace Corps from 1963 to1964, Terence also attended the Episcopal Theological Seminary in Cambridge, Massachusetts and studied at Harvard Divinity School. He was an Episcopal priest in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Zanesville, Ohio and later worked at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He was a member of the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Bellefontaine.

Terence is survived by a brother, D. Frederick (Susan) Burton of Bellefontaine; 3 nephews, and an aunt, Irma Clingerman of West Liberty, and numerous cousins.

Interment will be at the Calvary Cemetery in Bellefontaine, and a memorial mass will be held at the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church at a later date.

The staff of the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine assisted the family with arrangements.
