Former longtime Bellefontaine resident Thelma J. (Damsel) Davidson died Sunday, May 3, 2015 in Springfield, Ohio. She was a resident of the Springfield Masonic Community.
Davidson was born in Cincinnati on August 25, 1927 the daughter of Edward and Edna (Gray) Damsel.
She married George W. Davidson on June 20, 1948 in Columbus Ohio.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years George, her only sister Phyllis (William) Smith and great nephew Nicholas Smith.
She is survived by her son the Reverend Donald (Marcella) Davidson of Topeka, Kansas, nephews Edward (Becky) Smith and Mark Smith of Springfield, 1 great-niece Samantha Smith of Springfield, 2 great-great nieces and one great-great nephew.
A graduate of William McKinley High School in Columbus, Thelma attended the Ohio State University in Columbus before marriage. In Bellefontaine she was a secretary for the Mayor and other positions in the city building, and after her husband’s retirement owned and managed F.N. Davidson’s Jewelry and Gift Shop.
The Senior Past Matron of Bellefontaine Chapter #459 of the Order of the Eastern Star, she was also a member of Logan White Shrine of Jerusalem, the auxiliary of Bellefontaine Commandery #61 and a former President of the DeMolay Mother’s Club.
A former member of First Lutheran Church, and the Church of the Holy Trinity Episcopal in Bellefontaine, at the time of death she was a member of Christ Episcopal Church in Springfield.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 6, 2015 at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home, 321 N. Main St. Bellefontaine, Ohio 43311 with the Reverend Charlotte Collins Reed officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the funeral service on Wednesday.
