Thomas I. Messner, 66, of Bellefontaine, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, February 15, 2009 at Logan Acres after a long courageous battle with ALS. He was born on September 14, 1942 in Cleveland, Ohio, to the late William H. and Blanche Bayne Messner.
On October 7, 1975, 33 years ago, he married Patricia A. Severs in Zanesfield, Ohio, and she survives. He is also survived by a son, Richard “Rick” (Chris) Neal of Wilmington, North Carolina; daughters, Tammy (Chuck) Thornburg of Bellefontaine, Terri (Chris) Davis of Bellefontaine, Lisa Morran of Stewart, Florida, Cindy (Harry) Carnes of Bellefontaine and Lauren Messner of Port St. Lucy, Florida; brothers, William (Barb) Messner of Sandusky, Ohio; Ron (Judy) Messner of Willoughby, Ohio; David (Janice) Messner of Missouri; Michael Messner of Richfield, Ohio: sister, Rosemary (Frank) Griefenstein of Cleveland, Ohio; 13 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and numerous nieces & nephews.
He retired from New York Central and Conrail after 30 years of service.
The Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine handled the arrangements and per his request, there will be no services.
