Velma Ruth (Newman) Plikerd, 77, of Belle Center, Ohio passed away at 10:16 A.M. Friday, May 11, 2012, at Mary Rutan Hospital in Bellefontaine, Ohio.
She was born in Logan County Ohio July 13, 1934, to the late Charles E. and Eva Lou (Engle) Newman. She was also preceded in death by four brothers; Charles, Robert, Thomas and John Newman.
She is survived by her significant other Jim Krock of Belle Center; five children, Jeffrey (Marilyn) Plikerd of Belle Center, Sue (John) Jones of West Mansfield, Ohio, Scott Plikerd (Ben Cameron) of Maplewood, New Jersey, Kea (Chris) Drumm of Cincinnati, Ohio and Steve (Krista) Plikerd of Belle Center; 13 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; two sisters, Vivian Millisor and Garnet (Ron) Roebuck, both of Belle Center; sisters-in-law, Sherril Newman and Barbara Newman, both of Belle Center, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She worked at DAB and retired from Honda of America in Marysville. A 1952 graduate of Belle Center High School, she was a member of the Belle Center United Methodist Church, the Ladies Auxiliary VFW Post #1080, American Legion Auxiliary and the Indian Lake Moose Lodge #1533.
The funeral service will be conducted Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at 10:00 A.M. at the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Belle Center, with Forrest Amidon officiating. Calling hours will be Tuesday, May 15, 2012 from 5 to 8 P.M. at the funeral home. Interment will be at the Fairview Cemetery in Belle Center.
Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to the American Lung Association.
The funeral arrangements were handled by the staff of the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Belle Center.
