Verlyn Gibson

Verlyn L. “Gib” Gibson, Sr., 73, of Bellefontaine, Ohio, passed away at 9:09 P.M. Thursday, April 14, 2011 at home. He was born in Logan County, Ohio October 5, 1937, a son of the late Von D. and Leora (Haas) Gibson. He was also preceded in death by a grandson, Justin Smith.

He married Betty (Gannon) Gibson October 24, 1964 in Huntsville, Ohio, and she survives along with two sons, Darren (June) Gibson of Huntsville and Verlyn (Rebecca) Gibson Jr. of Bellefontaine; daughters, Lori Streeter of Columbus, Ohio, and Kimberly K. (Mike) Bell of Bellefontaine; grandchildren, Sheridon Gibson, Melissa Showers, Amber, Alexis, Brandon Gibson, Anthony and Shawna Bell; six great grandchildren; and a brother, Von Gibson of Corpus Christi, Texas.

He was employed by Thomas & Marker Construction and had previously been employed with DAB, Tudor Electric and at Honda through Burns Security.

He enjoyed golfing, loved working outside and especially in his wood shop and also traveling.

Rev. Mike Valentine will conduct the funeral service at 11:00 A.M. Monday, April 18, 2011, at the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine, where calling hours will be Sunday, April 17, 2011 from 2 to 5 P.M. Interment will take place at the Huntsville Cemetery.
