Virginia “Jini” Ritter Dee, 80, of Homestead, Florida and formerly of Bellefontaine, Ohio passed away Monday, June 18, 2012 at The Homestead Baptist Hospital in Homestead, Florida following a brief illness.

Virginia was born June 21, 1937 in Bellefontaine, the daughter of the late Gilbert “Gibby” and Elizabeth “Teetsie” Ritter.

She married James E. Dee October 21, 1950 and he preceded her in death August 3, 1995. She was also preceded in death by her son, Edwin C. Dee and son-in-laws, Allen D. McClure and Thomas L. Coons, brother –in-laws, John “Jack” Dee and Robert Fair, and a sister-in-law, Dorothy Dee.

She is survived by three children; daughters, Katherine A. McClure of West Liberty, Ohio and Barbara L. (Wayne) Coder of Wapakoneta, Ohio; a son, Michael J. Dee of Homestead, Florida and a daughter-in-law, Gale Dee of Richmond, Virginia; three brothers, Jerome (Joanne) Ritter, John G. (Carol) Ritter both of Bellefontaine and Richard (Susan) Ritter of Worthington, Ohio; seven grandchildren, Allison (Rob) Louden of Bellefontaine, James “Jamie” McClure of Columbus, Ohio, Bradley (Kyle) Coons of Bellefontaine, Michael (Nicole) Dee and Erin Dee of Miami, Florida, Kristen and Patrick Dee of Richmond, Virginia; four great grandchildren, Tyler and Anna Louden, Alix and Aiden Coons, all of Bellefontaine; sisters-in-law, Sally D. Fair of Carlsbad, California and Joyce B. Ritter of Bellefontaine.

Jini was a 1949 graduate of Bellefontaine High School and attended Ohio University. She was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church in Bellefontaine. When residing in Bellefontaine, she and her husband owned and operated the former Dee’s Department Store until 1977. While residing in Bellefontaine, she always enjoyed skiing at Madriver Mountain, sailing at Kiser Lake, all of her neighbors on South Madriver Street and her many wonderful friends.

In 1977, Jim and Jini relocated to Homestead, Florida, where she used her creativity in a floral shop. She treasured her return trips to Ohio to see her friends and family.

There will be a graveside service held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, June 30, 2012 at the Bellefontaine Cemetery in Bellefontaine, with Gene Marine officiating.

The staff of the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine assisted the family with arrangements.
