Virginia Irene (Parker) Hatfield, 94, of Bellefontaine, passed away at 12:41 a.m. on Saturday, January 7, 2017 at Mary Rutan Hospital. She was born in Bellefontaine on May 23, 1922 to the late Lester C. and Myrtle Marie (Davis) Parker. Virginia first was married to William Clinton Davis. She later married Ollie James “OJ” Hatfield and he preceded her in death March 26, 1971. Her siblings, Donna Mae Bickham, Juanita Shields, Kathryn Stevens, Roberta Berry, and Lester C. Parker Jr.; and a great grandson also preceded her in death.
Virginia is survived by her daughter, Virginia Charlene (Ronald) Gonterman, and her son, Fred (Linda) Davis; grandchildren, Mindy (Barry) Voss, Ann (Johnny) Ferguson, all of Bellefontaine, Terry Davis of Lima, Randy (Marie) Davis of Bellefontaine, Ty (Misty) Davis of West Liberty, and Lori (Rusty) Buckenroth of DeGraff; 19 great grandchildren; 10 great-great grandchildren; a sister, Carolyn Corbett of Elkhart, Indiana; and many nieces and nephews.
Virginia worked at the Westinghouse, Bulldog and DAB in her early years. She also worked for her brother, Lester Parker, at Parkers Cut Rate. Virginia loved sewing, doing puzzles and working in the garden. She enjoyed spending time at family gatherings and with her grandchildren. In her early years, Virginia enjoyed bowling.
Brother Nathan Price will officiate a funeral service at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home, 321 N. Main Street, Bellefontaine. Visitation will be Wednesday, January 11th from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Huntsville Cemetery.
