Virginia “Ginny” Young, 90, of Bellefontaine, Ohio, passed away Thursday, October 10, 2013 at Hospice of Cincinnati in Cincinnati, Ohio.
She was born May 17, 1923, in Bellefontaine to the late Don S. and Lorena (Woodard) Landgraver. Also preceding her in death was her step father, Ross McIlvain.
Surviving are her children, Michael A. Young, Christopher J. (Kathleen) Young, both of Findlay, Ohio, Brian R. (Angela) Young of Cincinnati and Shelley Young of Mendon, Ohio; six grandchildren, Alicia, Hilary, Emily, Jason, Tim and Karen, and five great grandchildren.
A devoted mother, Ginny worked at several places in her lifetime including, Mary Rutan Hospital, C.A.C., Merchants Industries, Bull Dog Electric, Copelands and Westinghouse. She was also an accomplished cosmetologist working at the Beauty Bower and Powder Puff Salons.
She graduated in 1941 from West Liberty High School and then attended and graduated from the Springfield Beauty Academy. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Bellefontaine, the American Legion Harold Kerr Post #173, B.P.O.E. Elks #132, Eagles #2166 and the V.F.W. Frank D. Castle Post #1080.
She enjoyed cooking, with many remembering her culinary creations. She also enjoyed serving and spending time with her family, traveling, all types of music along with swing dancing.
Ginny loved and influenced many people in her life. She had a servant’s heart and loved helping others whenever she could. The family is truly thankful for all the prayers, positive thoughts and condolences.
Pastor David Frasure will officiate the 11:00 A.M. funeral service Wednesday, October 16, 2013, at the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine where calling hours will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, October 15, 2013. Interment will be at the Fairview Cemetery in West Liberty, Ohio.
