Vivian Mary Maude Schrader Hertenstein, Bellefontaine, died the evening of December 25th, 2014. She was 92 years young. Mary was the widow of the late C.H. Hertenstein, who was postmaster in Bellefontaine from August of 1964 until his retirement in December of 1975.
Born May 18th, 1922 in Bellefontaine, she was the younger daughter of William H. and Cressie Kelly Schrader, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by her older sister Rosalind McClure, her older brother Woodrow, younger brother William Jr. and her eldest daughter, Sally Jane (Joel) Hertenstein Dudley of Opelika, Alabama.
Mary is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Sue (John) Palmer of Columbus, and one son Christopher (Michelle) Hertenstein, Powell; three granddaughters, Brenda (Eric) Aamodt of Easley, South Carolina, Mary Ann Palmer in Columbus and Sarah Hertenstein in Powell, five grandsons, Jack and Scott Dudley, both of Phenix City, Alabama, James Palmer of Columbus, and Clayton and Jacob Hertenstein, Powell, one great granddaughter Jessica (Mark) Faulk of Ft. Mill, South Carolina, and several nieces and nephews.
A 1939 graduate of Bellefontaine High School, she was also a graduate of Bustin Beauty School in Columbus. She had spent most of her life in Logan County with the exception of the years during World War II when she and her husband resided in Mississippi and Tennessee during his military service.
A member of the First United Methodist church, she was a member of it's Deborah Circle, Mizpah Circle of King's Daughters and of the Lady Elks.
Services will be Friday, January 2, 2015 at 12 noon at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home, Bellefontaine with Pastor Ed Beale officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home two hours prior to the service. Private burial will be in the Bellefontaine Cemetery.
