Wanda Ruth Houchin Byrge, 71, of Bellefontaine, Ohio passed away Sunday afternoon, March 2, 2014 at her home surrounded by family and friends.
She was born in Bellefontaine September 21, 1942, to the late James and Ruth Irene (Herford) Houchin. She was also preceded in death by brothers James Houchin, Fred Houchin, John Houchin and a sister Anita Hooper.
Wanda married Eddie R. Byrge December 20, 1994 in Hazard, Kentucky and he survives in Bellefontaine. She is also survived by her children, Amber Dawn (Rob) Kerns of Bellefontaine, Phillip Emery Houchin of Bellefontaine, Robert Lee Craig, Jr. of Bellefontaine and Richard Eugene (Angela) Craig of Bellefontaine; step-children, Patsy Ann Byrge and Paula Kay Byrge, both of Wyoming, Colleen Reetz of Toledo, Ohio, Eddie Daryl Byrge of Wyoming and Eddie Ray Reetz of Toledo; numerous grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; sisters, Kay (Dick) Burchett of DeGraff, Ohio, Linda Scherer of Bellefontaine, Angel (Mike) Shaffner of Quincy, Ohio, Kelly Hart of Marion, Ohio and Heidi Palmer of Trenton, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Wanda was a member of the Vineyard Church of Logan County. She graduated from the Ohio State Beauty Academy in Lima, Ohio and became an instructor. Wanda supported the American Red Cross as a blood donor for many years. She was a notary and was known to open her home to many people who needed a meal or a place to stay. Wanda was loved by all and will be missed by her family and many friends.
A celebration of Wanda’s life will be held Saturday, March 8, 2014 at 1 P.M. at Robin and Brian Butler’s residence 1726 Twp. Rd. 185 in Bellefontaine.
The staff of the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine assisted the family with the arrangements.
