Wayne Carson Leonard, 87, of Russells Point, passed away on Saturday, July 13, 2024, in Ayden Health Care of Belle Springs, Bellefontaine.

He was born in Johnson City, Tennessee, on July 24, 1936, the son of the late Robert E. Lee Jackson “Jack” and Maude Irene (Neff) Leonard. He was also preceded in death by one sister and one brother.

Wayne is survived by a daughter, Christi Roark, a son, Wayne Sheldon Leonard, his good friend and former brother-in-law, Jack Board and the entire Board family, and longtime friend, Wes, who served in the Navy with Wayne.

Wayne served his country for four years in the U.S. Navy, where he was stationed on the USS Perry (DD 844). After his honorable discharge from the Navy, he worked as a plumber and welder. He enjoyed hunting but loved to fish. He taught himself and others how to catch fish using only bare hands. When he was younger, he rode the Appalachian National Trail on his bicycle and up until he lost his eyesight, he would walk 10 miles a day.

There are no planned public services at this time for Wayne.
