Wesley L. Hawkins, Jr., 63, of Bellefontaine, Ohio, passed away Monday, March 19, 2012 at Mary Rutan Hospital in Bellefontaine. He was born May 20, 1948 in Bluefield, West Virginia to the late Wesley L. Sr. and Frances (Ayers) Hawkins.
On June 12, 1971, he married Cheryl Bodiker in Tazewell, Tennessee, and she survives along with 2 sons, Kurt (Rebecca) Hawkins of Lakeview, Ohio and Jason (Jessie) Hawkins of Huntsville, Ohio; 2 daughters, Joni Wilson and Sara (Shawn) Marcinko both of Bellefontaine; grandchildren, Eva Wilson-Woodruff, Storm Hawkins and Maria Hawkins, Emma Wilson, Nala Smith, Drew Hawkins, Trent Marcinko and Mila Hawkins; a great grandchild, Rylee Woodruff; and 4 brothers and 2 sisters.
Preceding him in death was a great granddaughter, Elaina Wilson and 2 sisters.
A machinist, Wesley worked for Rockwell, D.A.B., H.K. Porter and LeRoi Dresser. He was a United States Army Veteran, serving from 1968 to 1974 and in the Vietnam War. A member of the First Christian Church in Bellefontaine, he enjoyed fishing and cooking for his family.
Calling hours are Thursday, March 22, 2012 from 2 to 4 P.M. and 6 to 8 P.M. at the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, March 23, 2012 at the First Christian Church in Bellefontaine, with Pastor F. Michael Valentine officiating. There will be a military service by the Logan County Veterans Honor Guard in Brown Park following the service.
