William Columber


William Seigle Columber, 94, of Bellefontaine, Ohio, passed away at 11:00 A.M. Friday, June 3, 2011, at Heartland of Bellefontaine. He was born in Union County, Ohio March 27, 1917, a son of the late Carl and Mollie (Thompson) Columber. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Ernest Columber.

On June 14, 1941, he married the former Mary Lou Huber in DeGraff, Ohio, and she preceded him in death.

He is survived by a son, Carl Fred (Cheri) Columber of Bryan, Ohio; a daughter, Patricia Sue (Dee) Jones of Bellefontaine; two grandchildren, Bridgette (Mike) Winslow of Holland, Ohio and Kendra (Ryan) Spiess of Delta, Ohio; six great grandchildren and a very close friend, Marilyn Hare of Bellefontaine.

He worked in Bellefontaine for the New York Central Railroad for twenty seven years and eighteen years for Rockwell International.

William was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church in Bellefontaine and the B.P.O.Elks #132 of Bellefontaine. A 1935 graduate of West Liberty High School, he was a neighborhood handy man.

Pastor Rob Fulton will conduct the funeral service at 7:00 P.M. Monday, June 6, 2011 at the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine where friends may call 2 hours prior to the service starting at 5:00 P.M. There will be a private burial at the Fairview Cemetery in West Liberty, Ohio.
