William Givens

William P. Givens, 80, of Rushsylvania, Ohio, passed away Tuesday, September 24, 2013, at his residence.

He was born November 1, 1932, in Big Springs, Ohio to the late Carrold W. Givens and Opal (Predmore) Givens Royer. He was also preceded in death by his step-father Pearl Royer and his siblings, Geraldine Snyder and Lewis Givens.

On August 18, 1952, he married the former Evelyn Stanford in Rushsylvania, and she survives along with their children, Cathy (Keith) LeVan of Rushsylvania, Deborah (Joe) Clem of Ft. Myers, Florida, Robert Givens of Bellefontaine, Ohio, Brenda (Nick Phillips) McMillen of Bellefontaine and Christopher (Dawn) Givens of Rushsylvania; grandchildren, Jamond LeVan, Joseph LeVan, Januah Anspach, Mackenzie Koppel, Judd Clem, Seth Clem, Chance Givens, Jessica Bergman and Kirsten Givens; step grandchildren, Alan Clem and Angela Tabbi; eighteen great grandchildren; and his sisters, Barbara Newland of Big Springs and Sandy (Lowell) Buck of West Liberty, Ohio.

On February 1, 1991, he retired from Knowlton Construction as a crane operator working on several major hospitals and universities.

Bill served in the United States Army from February 12, 1953 to February 16, 1955. He was a member of the Rushsylvania United Methodist Church, the Hi-Point See Saws and the International Union of Operating Engineers. He loved his wife of sixty one years, his family, Sunday dinners, going to the casino, square dancing, camping and going to Florida in the winter.

Pastor John James will officiate the funeral service at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, September 28, 2013, at the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine, where calling hours will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. Friday, September 27, 2013. Interment will be at the the Rushsylvania Cemetery in Rushsylvania with military services by the Logan County Veterans Honor Guard.
