William Max Green, age 93, formerly of Belle Center, Ohio passed away Friday morning, December 29, 2017, at Green Hills Community in West Liberty, Ohio.
He was born in Big Springs, Ohio July 8, 1924, to the late William A. and Lavada K. (Rumer) Green. Max married the former Jean Eloise Hurley February 1, 1943 in Ridgeway, Ohio and she preceded him in death October 13, 2007. He was also preceded in death by sons Warren D. “Soap” Green and Edwin L. Green; a sister, Maria James; a brother, Lowell Green and a son-in-law, Steven Sutherly.
Max is survived by his daughter, Frances K. Sutherly of Huntsville, Ohio; nine grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; daughters-in-law Daisy Green of West Mansfield, Ohio and Anita Green of Bellefontaine, Ohio.
Max was a graduate of Ridgeway High School and was Veteran of World War II, where he served in the United States Navy. Following his Honorable Discharge, Max worked at Rockwell. He then had a milk route in the Belle Center area and worked at the Belle Center Creamery. He also worked as a forklift driver at Midwest Express. In the summers, Max loved fishing on Lake Erie. He was also a member of the Latham Lodge #154 Free & Accepted Masons in Kenton, Ohio.
Visitation will be held at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home in Belle Center Monday, January 8, 2018 from 4 to 6 P.M. with a Masonic Service at 6 P.M.
Pastor Don Patton will officiate a memorial service Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at 11 A.M. at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home in Belle Center with military honors to follow by the Logan County Veteran's Honor Guard.
A private family burial will be held at a later date at the Highland Memorial Cemetery in West Liberty.
