William E. “Everett” Huffman, age 93, of West Liberty, Ohio, passed away Friday morning, May 24, 2014 at Heartland of Urbana in Urbana, Ohio.
He was born in Bellefontaine, Ohio March 18, 1921, to the late Marston “Mike” and Nellie Field Huffman. He was also preceded in death by brothers Marion, Roger and Max Huffman and sisters, Thelma Neer and Geraldine McCafferty.
Everett married the former Joyce Louise McIntire June 11, 1946, and she survives in Urbana. He is also survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Stephanie Huffman of Urbana; a granddaughter, Shelby Huffman of Urbana; a sister, Betty McClain of Russells Point, Ohio; a brother, Merle (Marilyn) Huffman of North Lewisburg, Ohio, and several nieces and nephews.
A veteran of the United States Army, Everett served his country during World War II. Following the war, he went to work for New York Central as a railcar inspector and later retired from Conrail in the late 1970’s. Everett was a lifelong farmer and a 50+ year member of Masonic Lodge #161 of West Liberty. He previously attended the Spring Hills Presbyterian Church.
Pastor Lee Ortman will officiate the funeral service Thursday, May 29, 2014, at 1 P.M. at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home in West Liberty, where visitation will be held two hours prior to the service. A Masonic service will be conducted at 12:45 P.M. Interment will be at the Highland Memorial Cemetery in West Liberty.
