William Hurley

William Douglas Hurley, 71, of Bellefontaine, Ohio, passed away at his residence Wednesday, October 30, 2013.

He was born July 15, 1942, in Bellefontaine to the late Floyd Almer and Dorothy Ann (Fortney) Myers Hurley. He was also preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Brian Prall, and two nieces.

On August 2, 1966, he married the former Susan Doreen Brown and she survives along with their daughters, April D. (Chris) Walker and Amy D. (Eric) Trapp, both of Bellefontaine; grandchildren, Kelly Sue Maddox and Thomas Keaton Snapp, both of Bellefontaine; a sister, Bernice A. (Fred) Larmore of Bellefontaine; sisters-in-law, Rena (Tim) Turner of Florida, Eulaine (Ralph) Henman of Indiana, Denise Phillips of Belle Center, Erica Prall of Bellefontaine, Marla (Dan) Green of Rushsylvania, Arleen (Stacy) Shirk of Bellefontaine, Holly (David) Collins of Huntsville, and Beth (David) Barns of Belle Center; a brother-in-law, Brian (Sharon) Brown of Bellefontaine; eighteen nephews; twenty nieces, and many great and great-great nieces and nephews.

A 1960 Bellefontaine High School graduate, he attended the First United Methodist Church in Bellefontaine. Bill was a United Stated Army Veteran after serving during the Vietnam War from 1967 to 1969.

Bill retired from the Bellefontaine Police Department after 29 ½ years of service and then was a bailiff for the Logan County Juvenile Court for five years.

Bill believed love was the most important and would solve all earth's problems. He so enjoyed family and friends and all who joined his backyard camp fires. He loved to share memories with all his friends in the law enforcement community.

Pastor Ed Beale will officiate the funeral service Saturday, November 2, 2013, at 1:00 P.M. at the First United Methodist Church in Bellefontaine, where calling hours will be held from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. prior to the service.

The staff of the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine assisted the family with the arrangements.
