William Harley Moffitt, 65, of West Liberty, Ohio, died at his home among family Thursday, December 11, 2008, after a short battle with cancer. He was born November 21, 1943, in Bellefontaine, a son of the late Wayne and Josephine Moffitt. He married the former Priscilla Ann Hartzler on July 11, 1964, in West Liberty, and they recently celebrated 44 years of marriage.
Survivors include his wife, Ann; a son, Jim Moffitt of San Diego; a daughter, Cindy (Paul) Bartlett of Marysville; two granddaughters, Amanda and Megan; a sister, Martha Gibson of Galloway; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was a member of the West Liberty United Methodist Church, a Melvin Jones Fellow of the West Liberty Lions Club and an active member in his community. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his granddaughters, working in his garden, and traveling with his wife.
Bill was employed with Holdren Brothers of West Liberty for 37 years. In 2000, he went to work for Transportation Research Center of East Liberty, where he continued to work until his death. Bill was a devoted husband, father and “Pappy.”
Pastor Tim Reeves conducts the funeral service at 11 a.m. Monday, December 15, 2008, at the Kauffman-Eichholtz Funeral Home in West Liberty, where calling hours are from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday afternoon December 14, and one hour prior to the service.
