Zelma Agnes Cooke, 101, formerly of Belle Center, Ohio, passed away Thursday, September 3, 2009, at the Hardin Hills Health Center in Kenton, Ohio. She was born October 2, 1907 in Crawfordsville, Iowa, to the late James E. and Elizabeth (Scott) Cooke. She was preceded in death by her brother, Roe Cooke and sisters, Frances Nadine Cooke, Zenaide Phillips and Dione Godwin-VanBuskirk.
Zelma is survived by her cousin, Mary Lu Meyer of Bellefontaine, Ohio, whom was raised with Zelma and her family; seventeen nieces and nephews; and many great nieces & nephews.
A 1926 Huntsville High School graduate and the Bliss Business College, Zelma worked as the office manager for Jennings-Lawrence Engineer Company in Columbus, Ohio, and also served on their Board. She was a member of the Belle Center United Presbyterian Church and the Glenn-Echo Presbyterian Church in Columbus. She was devoted Christian and loved her family.
Calling hours are Monday, September 7, 2009, from 2 P.M. to 5 P.M. at the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Belle Center where Rev. Kathy Clark will conduct the funeral service at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, September 8, 2009, with one hour of calling preceding the service. Burial will follow the funeral service in the Huntsville Cemetery, Huntsville, Ohio.
